James Greeley

Chief Deputy Announcement

I am excited to announce James (Jim) Greeley as my selection for the Chief Deputy position should I be elected as your Sheriff. The Chief Deputy's role is critical in the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff's Office. After considering a number of qualified candidates, based on Jim’s career dedication to the well-being and safety of our community members, my decision became easy.

In my capacity as the Searsport Public Safety Director, I have had the pleasure to work directly with and supervise Jim. He has demonstrated the ability to fairly and efficiently enforce the law while showing compassion, understanding, and respect to victims and suspects alike. Jim has become well known and respected throughout Waldo County through his years of dedicated service at the Sheriff's Office and the Searsport Police Department.

Jim was born in Belfast and raised in Morrill. The day after graduating from the Belfast Area High School in 1994, Jim joined the United States Marine Corps. After serving honorably for four years, he returned to Waldo County and worked as a subcontractor.

In 2004, Jim found his calling as a Law Enforcement Officer and was hired by the Waldo County Sheriff's Office. He held many positions within the Sheriff's Office, including Patrol Sergeant supervising patrol operations, Detective investigating major crimes including domestic violence, Certified Field Training Officer training new deputies, Drug Recognition Expert, Standard Field Sobriety Instructor, and taught at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Jim is currently on the Board of Directors for the Belfast Soup Kitchen as well.

Jim is a family man and is passionate about the time he spends with his family. A true Mainer, he loves hunting, fishing, coaching football, and being actively involved in our community. Always driven to help others, in his "spare time," Jim has even volunteered to serve on several town committees.

Jim’s extensive experience and proven track record in providing quality service and protection to the members of our community make him the ideal person to serve as the next Chief Deputy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

Please reach out to Jim with any questions or simply to introduce yourself. I’m sure you’ll be impressed!
